Did Hermès Fire Saleswoman After Lebron James’ Wife’s Shopping Snub?

Did Hermès Fire Saleswoman After Lebron James’ Wife’s Shopping Snub?

A luxury shopping appointment in Milan turned into a story about poor service, celebrity influence, and a reported firing. Savannah James and her longtime friend April McDaniel say a saleswoman at Hermès turned them away despite their scheduled appointment.

Savannah, who is married to NBA star LeBron James, shared the story with McDaniel during an appearance on Danielle Robay’s “Question Everything” podcast. McDaniel said the encounter ended with Hermès management stepping in and firing the employee. People and Page Six reported their account in August 2026.

The key detail needs some context. Hermès has not publicly confirmed that it fired the employee, so the firing remains a claim made by Savannah and McDaniel during the interview.

Booked Hermès Appointment Went Wrong in Milan

James / IG / McDaniel said she had arranged an appointment at a Hermès boutique in Milan, Italy. When she and Savannah arrived, a female sales associate allegedly refused to recognize the appointment and would not let them shop as expected.

The women said the employee’s attitude made the encounter worse. McDaniel recalled confronting the saleswoman and making it clear that she planned to take the complaint further rather than simply leave the store. The situation soon reached store management, according to their account. McDaniel and Savannah said management responded quickly after hearing what had happened and took action against the sales associate.

They claimed the woman lost her job over the incident. Neither Hermès nor an independent source has publicly verified that personnel decision, which makes it important to separate the women’s account from a confirmed company statement. People said it contacted Hermès for comment.

What reportedly happened next made the story even more striking. Savannah and McDaniel said the store shifted from refusing their appointment to giving them a private luxury shopping experience.

According to their account, staff closed off the store or part of it and brought them into a private room. They were then served champagne, macarons, and caviar while employees presented merchandise for them to consider.

McDaniel described enjoying the experience after the confrontation. Savannah also recalled staff bringing out a large selection of merchandise, giving the pair access to the kind of personal service associated with luxury retail. Their story included coveted Hermès products, with reports noting crocodile items and handbags among the merchandise presented. The pair said they continued shopping despite the ugly start to the visit.

The Story Sparked a Bigger Debate About Power and Service

Hermès Online / Hermès sells some of the world’s most recognizable luxury goods, so treatment inside its boutiques naturally becomes part of the customer experience.

The Milan encounter has produced two very different readings online. One side sees a straightforward service problem in which customers with an appointment were treated poorly and had every right to ask management to address it. That argument carries extra weight in luxury retail, where personal attention forms a major part of what customers expect

The other side has focused on the power gap between wealthy, well-connected customers and retail workers. Critics have questioned the idea of an employee reportedly losing her job after a dispute involving people with major social and financial influence.

That concern grew because Savannah and McDaniel described the firing alongside the lavish service they received afterward. For some listeners, the contrast between a worker reportedly losing a job and the customers receiving champagne and expensive products made the story uncomfortable.

The public still lacks the employee’s version of events. There is also no public statement from Hermès confirming why an employee may have been dismissed.
